What it does

Alerts in the channel, actions on the message

Incident, alert and monitor-status messages

Uptimely posts to the Slack channel your team picks when a monitor changes status and when an incident or alert is declared, acknowledged or resolved.

Act on an incident from the message

Incident messages carry buttons to acknowledge, resolve, change state, add a note and execute the on-call policy, so a responder can act without opening the dashboard.

Per-project notification rules

Each Uptimely project has its own rules for which event types reach Slack and which channel they go to, so a noisy monitor does not have to reach everyone.

Actions are attributed to you

Link your own Slack account to your Uptimely account once, and a button click in Slack is recorded against you. Until you link, the buttons ask you to connect your account first.

Set up

Three steps

  1. Add to Slack. Click Add to Slack and approve the permissions below for your workspace.
  2. Sign in and pick the project. Sign in to Uptimely, or create an account, then choose which Uptimely project the workspace connects to.
  3. Choose a channel and rules. In that project's settings, choose the channel and the notification rules that decide which events post to it.
Permissions

What Uptimely asks Slack for, and why

Bot permissions

  • chat:write Posts incident, alert and monitor-status messages to the channel you chose.
  • channels:read Lists public channels so you can pick where Uptimely posts.
  • groups:read Lists the private channels Uptimely has been invited to, so you can pick one.
  • channels:join Joins the public channel you selected if the bot is not a member yet, so the first alert is delivered.

User permissions (only if you link your account)

  • openid Sign in with Slack: confirms which Slack member is linking their Uptimely account.
  • profile Sign in with Slack: returns the member and workspace ids used to match a button click to your Uptimely user.
  • email Sign in with Slack: part of the standard OpenID Connect grant the link flow requests.
Your data

What Uptimely stores

  • Your Slack workspace id and name, and the bot's user id.
  • The bot token Slack issues when you install the app.
  • The channel you choose in a notification rule.
  • If you link your own account: your Slack user id and workspace id, and the Sign in with Slack token.

Uptimely does not read message history or channel content. The permissions above only let it post, list channels and join the one you picked.

Remove it

Disconnect any time

From Uptimely

Disconnect Slack in the project's settings. Uptimely revokes the bot token at Slack and then deletes the stored install.

From Slack

Remove the app from your workspace. Slack notifies Uptimely, which deletes the tokens it holds for that workspace automatically.
