Free website and uptime monitoring

Uptimely checks your website as often as every minute and records whether it answered, how fast, and with which status code. When it fails two checks in a row, Uptimely opens an incident, alerts you, and resolves the incident when the site comes back.

Website monitoring answers one question on a schedule: does the site respond the way it should? Uptimely requests your URL, follows redirects, and counts any 2xx or 3xx answer as up. Anything else, including a timeout, is a failure, and you can make that stricter with rules on response time, status code, headers or the text on the page.

Most false alarms come from one slow or dropped request. Before a failure counts, Uptimely checks again, and by default a monitor needs two failed checks in a row before it opens an incident. A failure that clears on the next check still shows in the monitor's history, but it does not page anybody.

What you get

  • Checks every minute on Free. Pick any interval from every minute to once a week. New monitors check every 5 minutes until you change it.
  • Fewer false alarms. A failing check is re-checked before it counts, and an incident needs two failed checks in a row by default. You can set that anywhere from 1 to 10 per monitor.
  • Rules beyond up or down. Alert on response time, a status code, a response header, or text that should or should not appear on the page.
  • Incidents that close themselves. When the site recovers, the incident resolves on its own, so you are not left closing tickets after an outage.
  • Response time and uptime history. Each monitor shows its latest response time and a 90-day uptime graph.
  • A timeout you choose. Requests time out after 30 seconds by default, adjustable from 1 to 60 seconds per monitor.
  • Check now. Run a check on demand from the monitor page to confirm a fix without waiting for the next interval.
  • Alerts on every channel. Alerts go out by email, SMS, phone call, Slack, Discord and browser push, and an on-call policy decides who is paged and in what order.

How it works

  1. Create a monitor, choose Website, and paste your URL.
  2. Pick how often to check it. Every minute is available on the Free plan.
  3. Add rules if up or down is not enough, such as a response time over 2000 ms, or a page that must contain your product name.
  4. Choose who hears about it, by channel, and add an on-call policy if you have one.

What the Free plan includes

  • 10 monitors, checked as often as every minute
  • 1 status page to share your uptime with users
  • Up to 3 team members
  • Incidents, alerts, on-call and scheduled maintenance
  • No credit card, and no time limit

Every plan and limit is on the pricing page.

Questions

Is Uptimely's website monitoring really free?

Yes. The Free plan includes 10 monitors for websites or other endpoints, checked as often as every minute, with no time limit and no credit card. Pro ($29 a month, with a 14-day free trial) removes the monitor limit.

What counts as down?

A request that times out, cannot connect, or ends in a status code outside 200 to 399. You can add stricter rules, such as a slow response or a missing piece of text, and choose what status each one sets.

How does Uptimely avoid false alarms?

Two ways. A failing check is re-checked before it counts, and by default a monitor needs two failed checks in a row before it opens an incident. You can raise that to 10 for a noisy endpoint or lower it to 1.

Where do the checks run from?

From a single vantage point today. Checking from a second network is on the roadmap, and it is not live yet.

What is the difference between website monitoring and uptime monitoring?

Very little in practice. Uptime monitoring is the broader term for checking that any service answers, and website monitoring is the same idea aimed at a URL. Uptimely does both, along with APIs, cron jobs and SSL certificates.

Start with 10 monitors on the Free plan. No credit card needed.
